Stitching as Research
The embroidery works on the previous and following pages are part of an ongoing artistic research process that explores the intersections of digital image production, materiality, and embodied practice. At its core is the question of how digital image logics can be translated into physical processes and how these translations affect the perception and valuation of labor.
The starting point is a linear, repetitive, and time-intensive embroidery technique. Digital image structures are translated into manual actions, making their materiality tangible and perceptible. At the same time, photographic documentation of these processes gives rise to new visual worlds in which haptic structures increasingly shift toward digital aesthetics.
