Katarina Strasser is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice focuses on textile art and video. Her work brings together textile processes and digital media to explore how material, image, and narrative can be translated across different media. Materiality, process, and temporality are central to her artistic practice, which is shaped by an interest in the tactile qualities of materials and their relationship to digital image worlds.

Working with textiles, printmaking, and video, Strasser develops hybrid forms in which craft-based techniques intersect with conceptual inquiry. Her current practice places particular emphasis on embroidery as a time-intensive and meditative process. These works increasingly engage with digital image making and therefore touch on themes such as duration, embodiment, material memory and serial visual structures.

Strasser’s practice reflects on the accelerated pace of digital image production, offering a slower, materially grounded approach in response. Through handwork, repetition, and reuse, she examines questions of care, time, and value beyond the logics of efficiency, productivity, and visibility.

Based in Stuttgart, Strasser is a member of M.A.R.S. (Material Artistic Research Studio), an artists’ collective that investigates the visibility of motherhood and care work within the art world. Collaboration with other women artists and art education are also integral to her practice.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Arts-Based Research at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
